Our Rankin McKenzie Partner joined our organization in September of 2023. Wake Radiology had never had a CFO before and the rapid growth of our organization over the last 5 years had outstripped the capacity of our accounting team. We asked them to reorganize and build out our finance team while at the same time “teaching” the whole company what a CFO could do. Along the way they helped us find several key administrative personnel, helped solve a few politically delicate compensation problems and helped lead some key negotiations with our hospital partners. Kathy’s role as our fractional Controller was instrumental during a critical transition period for our CFO. Her adeptness in grasping the nuances of our organization dedicated to early childhood development was remarkable. Not only did she ensure a seamless operational flow, but her strategic insights and recommendations were invaluable, particularly because they came from an objective, external viewpoint. We engaged Debbie in January 2024 for high-level Accounting and Consulting services due to turnover in our Accounting Department and outdated financial practices. Our goal was to stabilize the company by addressing these evident financial shortcomings.

Debbie’s energy and detailed approach was evident from the start, as she undertook a forensic audit of our overall finances, records, and practices and identified deficiencies and key avenues for improvement. She recommended changes, including restating the 2023 Profit and Loss Statement, implementing new Budget Procedures, and adapting QuickBooks for Payroll, Accounts Receivable, and Payables. These changes have been crucial to stabilizing our financials.

Debbie has proven to be an invaluable resource with her organized, detailed approach and positive, can-do attitude. She offers clear, measured counsel and remains calm even in difficult situations. I cannot recommend Bethany Hong highly enough – she is highly-skilled, hard-working and good-natured.  Bethany really came through in a pinch for us when we were trying to clear some thorny 280G issues in a fast-moving acquisition for a start-up technology client that had never previously even prepared financial statements.  Bethany immediately gained the trust of the client and worked directly with him to resolve all the issues prior to closing.  We and, more importantly, our client are very grateful to Bethany for the great work she did to help us navigate the tricky 280G landscape in order to successfully conclude the pending acquisition on time.  We would welcome the opportunity to work with Bethany again in a heartbeat!
