After COVID, our restaurant, brewery, and event businesses were facing a lot of challenges, and I knew I needed better financial information to understand what was working, what wasn't, and where we needed to make changes. Christie came in, took a close look at our accounting and financial processes, and helped us see where things could be improved. She gave us practical recommendations to make our reporting more useful, speed up processes, put better checks and balances in place, and reduce costs. Justin has been a huge help in getting a big mess fixed. When Justin got here, we thought we were pretty good on our accounting side and just needed him to help prepare for a SBA loan. Upon starting our search, we had doubts about our ability to retain a highly competent finance person within our budgetary constraints who could handle maintaining our finances while also strategizing for the future. This made a fractional CFO like Anna a great fit. After interviewing Anna, we felt very comfortable that she had the right skills and temperament for the role.
Anna is an experienced professional who has provided financial expertise and guidance to our company, while enabling us to get the right systems and processes in place to manage the daily requirements for finance and for reporting to investors. In fact, John was the first full time finance employee, grew to become the Director of Finance, and helped take the company public in 2014 on the NASDAQ. Needless to say, it was a great experience for us all, and John was on the team that made it happen.
When I started a new company, Ribogenics, of course it made perfect sense for me to go back to John for Finance. He came the first day, and we were in business!
John is not only a great numbers guy; he also understands the Biotech ecosystem: investors both public and private, shareholders, partners, principal investigators, administrative support and scientists. He communicates easily with Board members and very quickly gained their trust. John also communicates well with scientists that may not have all the financial and operational knowledge required to build and grow a Biotech company. He is also very responsive in the demands of the stakeholders and good at prioritizing his job.

A person doesn't need to work with her very long to realize that. Her consistently positive attitude is contagious.
