Beth Mullaney is a Managing Partner and leads the Business Development efforts at Rankin McKenzie, driving the firm’s growth strategy, market positioning, and client development initiatives. As one of three equity partners—and the only non-CFO partner—Beth plays a critical role in shaping the firm’s direction and expanding its reach across the Southeast and beyond. Since joining in 2011, she has built the business development function from the ground up, helping to drive consistent double-digit growth and establish Rankin McKenzie as one of the most respected fractional CFO firms in the region.

Beth is a trusted advisor to growth-stage companies, known for her ability to connect organizations with the right financial leadership at the right time. She has been instrumental in more than doubling the firm’s size, recruiting top-tier CFO and controller talent, and cultivating a powerful network of referral partners across banking, private equity, legal, and advisory communities. Her strategic approach to relationship-building and consultative selling has resulted in long-term client engagements and sustained revenue growth over more than a decade.

Prior to Rankin McKenzie, Beth spent over ten years at The Catevo Group, where she served as a Senior Account Executive managing research, digital marketing and advertising initiatives for clients including Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina and Cornerstone Therapeutics. She began her career in pharmaceutical sales with Warner-Lambert Canada, where she was a top performer and founding member of the OTC Physician Detail Team.

In addition to her professional work, Beth is deeply involved in the entrepreneurial community. She has served as Director of Women’s Programs for the Association for Corporate Growth, mentored early-stage founders through NC IDEA, and supported women-led businesses as part of a Woman Who Lead group. A native of Nova Scotia, she holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Saint Mary’s University and has spent nearly three decades building her career in North Carolina.

Outside of work, Beth enjoys traveling, spending time on the golf course, and exploring a great bourbon—often combining all three whenever possible.

  • Joined Rankin McKenzie as the Director of Business Development and as a Partner in 2011. Became a Managing Partner in 2015.
  • From 1999 to 2004, worked for Digiton, which became The Catevo Group from 2004 to 2010; during this time, Ms. Mullaney was promoted from Project Manager to Senior Manager of Market Research to her final role as Senior Account Executive. In this role, she managed a time- and labor-intensive direct mail campaign for BCBSNC, securing a rate of return of 18% (industry standard is 1-2%).
  • From 1993 to 1998, participated in various sales and marketing initiatives as a pharmaceutical representative for Warner Lambert, Canada. Accomplishments include serving as a founding member of the company’s OTC Physician Detail Team and completing the Consultative Selling, Tactical Trade Negotiating, and ROSS Selling Skills courses.
