Richard (Rich) McGivney, CPA is a results-oriented financial executive with more than 30 years of public accounting, corporate finance, and leadership experience. He has a proven track record in building and managing high-growth research and technical services organizations, from entrepreneurial startups to companies with more than 1,000 employees. He has developed and executed strategic realignments of operations to improve profitability, performed multiple acquisitions and divestitures, and expanded finance operations overseas to support international growth. More recently Rich has worked with startup companies in the life science space, helping develop and execute on strategic plans, including raising capital and hiring key staff. His Federal government contracting experience includes negotiating contracts and indirect cost rates, as well as managing operating and control systems, for organizations executing Federal contracts with the Department of Health and Human Services, the Department of Defense, the Department of Homeland Security, the Environmental Protection Agency, and many others. Some of his current clients include Isolere Bio, MicroElastic Ultrasound, Sciome, Susteon and Xilis.
Prior to joining Rankin McKenzie, Mr. McGivney served as Chief Financial Officer at Lovelace Respiratory Research Institute (LRRI), a biomedical and clinical research organization with 1,100 employees. He also served as Chief Financial Officer Innovative Emergency Management (IEM), a management services company with 250 employees, Vice President of Finance and Corporate Controller at the Research Triangle Institute (RTI), an international research and technical services organization with an extended work force of 5,000 and over 100 distinct operating groups worldwide and was an Audit Partner with the accounting firm Nelson and Company PA. His accomplishments include managing significant investments in capital infrastructure and human talent that expanded critical competencies and markets; designing and implementing technology systems that reduced the costs of operations; successfully spinning out new technology companies and leading M&A activities; and managing Finance, Human Resource, Treasury and Risk Management programs.
Mr. McGivney is a licensed CPA and received a M.S. in Accounting from Appalachian State University in North Carolina.
