Jaye has made my life so much easier. Prior to coming in, I was trying to do the job of multiple people. She has taken so much off my plate, and I couldn’t be more grateful. She is very good at explaining to everyone exactly what she needs. We have a pretty tricky accounting system that we struggle to use. While I can tell it’s frustrating, she powers on and continues to successfully get the information she needs out of it. NCEPS completed a state employment audit and passed with flying colors thanks to Jaye McDermott, our Rankin McKenzie part-time Controller. Our Rankin McKenzie Controller, Jaye McDermott, went above and beyond on this assignment. She inherited a challenging accounting department with some infrastructure and staff issues and proceeded to jump right into a due diligence process. She deserves tremendous credit for stabilizing and positioning the company for acquisition and now for further success.
As a Partner with over 25 years of Accounting and Management experience, Jaye McDermott has provided CFO/Controller/Advisory services to multiple organizations, as well as providing project support and Staff training. During her time at Rankin, Ms. McDermott has Implemented Inventory & Cost accounting systems, Provided Controller services to support two acquisitions, one in a Software/Engineering environment and one in a Medical Services industry. She has also implemented Consolidated financials from spreadsheets for an international technology company and adapted Publishing software to support Financial Statements. Other clients have included an HOA for which she established Accounting policy for foreclosed properties and provided audit and general accounting support, a Medical Device manufacturer in RTP, a Research Company in Durham, and a Food Service business headquartered in Durham. She recently provided CFO services to a Code School, as well as HR, Payroll and Real Estate reconciliations for a Non profit company in Raleigh.
Ms. McDermott has a diverse background, she enjoys and has an aptitude for Software Implementation with the goal of providing better information in less time. She enjoys mentoring staff to enable them to take over systems as they are implemented, and supporting their growth as team members. With her legal and international experience, she is able to work effectively with international accounting and legal firms.
Prior to signing on with Rankin McKenzie, Ms. McDermott spent 5 years as an Independent Contractor, working on various projects with Harris Stratex, GSK, Highwoods, Waste Industries and other companies in the Raleigh/Durham area. Her projects included Tax Analysis and Financial Statement preparation, Sarbanes Oxley documentation, and support of Management projects. Before that, Ms. McDermott spent 16 years in various roles at Tecan US, the US Sales and Marketing arm of Tecan AG, a Medical Device manufacturer. During her tenure, she implemented multiple accounting and tax systems, including SAP. As CFO, her area of responsibility included Accounting, Operations and HR.
Ms. McDermott attended Xavier University, where she earned BA in Political Science and the University of Maryland Law school, earning a JD degree. She maintains her Bar membership in Maryland. Ms. McDermott has lived in Maryland, Ohio and North Carolina.
