Jaye McDermott, CTP

Prior to joining Rankin McKenzie, Jaye McDermott worked in RTP as a consultant for six years after a successful career with Tecan US, Inc. She has held the roles of VP Finance, CFO, Controller, Accounting Manager, Tax Manager and Financial Analyst. In addition to her extensive experience in Financial Management and Reporting, she has managed Operations, IT, and HR teams.

As Controller and CFO of Tecan US, Ms. McDermott was responsible for all financial activities for Tecan US, and all Tax reporting for the consolidated Tecan US Group. She was responsible for the implementation and upgrades of Internal Accounting systems, including integration of Fixed Asset, Tax and Reporting software. Ms McDermott also led the US team to implement worldwide SAP software 2003-2005. She has over 15 years of experience in Audit Management.

As a consultant, Ms. McDermott has written SOPs, documented SOX controls, evaluated data privacy of systems, and worked as a financial analyst. In addition, she has continued to work “hands-on” including reconciliations, month end close, tax, and audit support.

Ms. McDermott earned her bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Xavier University, and her JD from the University of Maryland and completed accounting coursework at UNC-CH. She is a member of the NC Treasury Management Association and maintains a Certified Treasury Professional certification, as well as maintaining membership in the Maryland Bar.

Professional Career Highlights:

  • Since 2005, Ms McDermott has worked as a Consultant in the RTP area, working as a financial analyst. She has created SOPs and prepared SOX documentation in multiple corporations, in addition to standard analysis, month end close and reconciliations. In other roles, she has provided tax support for month end closing and return preparation, as well as review of transfer pricing strategy. In addition, Ms McDermott has set up accounting systems for a number of small businesses, and implemented tax and payroll software for larger corporations.
  • From 2000-2005, Ms. McDermott was CFO and VP Finance for Tecan US Inc, and Tecan US Group. She was a member of the executive team and directed all finance activities for a distributor of robotic laboratory equipment and detection devices. Her additional responsibilities included Budgeting, Legal & Corporate compliance, Human Resources Management, Information Technology Management and Operations Management. Ms. McDermott was responsible for managing relationships with Auditors, Attorneys, Tax and IT Professionals. She managed the legal and financial due diligence for the Acquisition of Gamera (Tecan Boston).
  • From 1989-2000, in progressive roles in the Tecan Group, Ms. McDermott was responsible for Accounting and Reporting functions, including month end closings and Audit preparation. She managed the accounting staff and maintained the SBT accounting system, including database functions, chart of account maintenance, and linking of AP, AR, Inventory, Order Entry, Payroll, and Banking systems.
  • Prior to Joining Tecan US, Ms. McDermott worked in CPA firms in the RTP Area, specializing in Tax Preparation & Planning, after relocating from Baltimore, MD, where she worked as a Legal Assistant, specializing in Title VII litigation support.
